How to Affair Proof your Marriage

Worrying about an affair is something you don’t ever want to have to deal with in your marriage. Dealing with an affair is even worse than worrying about it. There are ways to prevent it from happening.

We all know the seventh commandment reads, “Thou shall not commitment adultery”. While the Ten Commandments are the laws that we should follow in our day to day lives, some do not. So you need to prevent an affair from happening in your marriage.

There are many things you need to do in your marriage every day and every week. Communication is the key to a great marriage, but so is staying in line with God’s word.

One thing you need to do as a couple is pray every day. You need to pray together and you need to pray by yourself. When you pray together, you should pray for the safety of your family, pray about your jobs, pray about your finances, and pray over your marriage.

When you pray separately, you should pray that God will lead you in the right direction each day, pray that the decisions that you and your spouse make will be right by each other and right by God, and you should pray that the lines of communication will remain open.

Communication is the only way you will know what is going on and how your spouse feels when it comes to things in your marriage. You need to talk to your spouse about how you feel about things they do or don’t do. You need to be willing to change for the better if you are doing something that upsets your spouse.

If your spouse is doing something or not doing something, you need to discuss this with them rather than finding someone else. The grass is never greener on the other side. When you share these things, more than likely, they will do their best to change so that things will get better.

Spending time together alone and without the kids is something else you need to do on a regular basis. Even if it’s just for a few hours, you need to do it. If your children are old enough to stay at home by themselves, you should consider going out to dinner and a movie. If they are not old enough to stay at home for a long period of time, you should consider doing breakfast out on a Saturday morning. If your children are not old enough to stay at home alone, then you need to find a sitter for a few hours. Couples need this time together no matter what you do during this time.

A short weekend vacation every now and again is something else that is needed. If you can’t afford to go away for the weekend, consider finding a babysitter from Friday night until Sunday evening and then you can stay at home. Go out for meals or cook together. Don’t clean the house, don’t work on the car, and don’t do things separately. You need to do things together during this time.

Spending time together, communicating, and spending time in the Word, will help prevent an affair from happening. Remember to help each other and do things together as a couple and you will do your part to build a strong and trusting marriage. Staying in line with God will help build an even stronger marriage.
